Three mysteries, printed and ready for the next three "I'm bored"s.

A dinosaur egg vanishes from the museum. A box of donuts goes missing. Something isn't right at the festival. Each one is a full case with its own suspects, its own evidence and its own culprit.

Your detective matches prints, cracks codes, checks alibis and crosses suspects off one by one until only one is left. Then they have to prove it.

Instant PDF download · 30-day money-back guarantee

🔍 3 full mysteries, each with its own suspects and culprit

💡 Built-in hints, so “I’m stuck” doesn’t mean you

✏️ Print it, hand over a pencil, done. No cutting.

🕵️ Two levels in every case (best for ages 7–9)

The three cases
  • Case #001: The Vanishing Dinosaur Egg. Five suspects were in the Maplewood Museum, and Dino Day opens at ten.
  • Case #002: The Case of the Missing Donuts. The donuts are gone, and somebody knows where they went.
  • Case #003: The Festival Mystery. Something isn’t right at the festival, and your detective has to work out who is behind it.
What’s in every case
  • A case briefing, suspect cards and a Case Board to track the evidence
  • Linked evidence challenges: observation, secret codes, map trails, logic and witness statements
  • A final accusation sheet and a “Case Closed” reveal with a certificate
  • Built-in hints, printed upside down, so your detective can get unstuck without asking you
  • A full answer key for grown-ups
Two levels in every case
  • Junior Detective: short sentences and picture-led puzzles
  • Super Sleuth: more reading, a tougher code and a suspect whose story doesn’t add up

Same mystery, same ending, so two children can work side by side, one on each level.

Print it and hand it over
  • A pencil is all they need, with no cutting, envelopes or props

  • Worth having printed and ready for a rainy day, a sick day, a school break or the hour before dinner.
  • Covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee.

You love them. You just can’t be the entertainment every minute.

Dinner needs cooking, the meeting can’t move, and it’s raining again. You suggest the LEGO, the books, the drawing things, and ten minutes later they’re back asking what to do, or asking for the tablet. The tablet works, which is why it keeps winning.

Most alternatives hand the job back to you. Board games need a second player. Crafts need setting up and cleaning up. Worksheets feel like homework, so you end up coaxing them through every page.

These cases are built for that moment. You print one, they get a mystery they want to solve, and the hints on the page mean “I’m stuck” doesn’t have to mean you. They read, notice details and reason their way to a culprit while you get on with your thing. It’s quiet time you don’t have to feel bad about.

A mystery can only be solved once. So you get three.

That’s the catch with a single case: it works, they love it, and then it’s over. With three, the next one is already there for the next rainy day, sick day or long hour before dinner. And when they finish the first and ask if there’s another, the answer is yes.

A worksheet gives them something to finish. A mystery gives them something to find out.

Most activity pages are a task with nothing riding on it, so the push to keep going has to come from you. In a Junior Case File, each challenge hands your child a piece of evidence, and each piece crosses someone off the Case Board. They turn the page because they want to know who did it. Every one is a real case with a real culprit, not a stack of worksheets.

How it works

1. Download

The PDF is yours right after checkout.

2. Print the first case

Pick Junior Detective or Super Sleuth, in US Letter or A4. Save the other two cases for later.

3. Hand it over with a pencil

The briefing tells them what happened and who the suspects are. The hints handle the stuck moments.

Try the first case. If it isn’t a fit, you get your money back.

Children differ, and you won’t know whether a mystery is your child’s thing until they’ve tried one. So print it and hand it over. If it doesn’t hold them, email info@venalara.com within 30 days of your order and we’ll refund you.

Questions parents ask

Will I have to sit with them?

At 7 to 9, most of it is theirs to run. Every challenge has a hint printed upside down, so the first move when they’re stuck is to flip the page. At 6, plan to read the story parts aloud and let them do the puzzles.

Which level should I print?

Junior Detective for newer readers: short sentences and picture-led puzzles. Super Sleuth for confident readers who want more reading and a tougher code.

How long does a case take?

Each case is designed for roughly 30 to 45 minutes, depending on age and level.

Can they play a case again?

Once they know who did it, that case is solved, which is why the pack has three. A brother or sister can still play each one fresh, and you can print them as often as you like for your own family.

Do they have to play them in order?

No. Each case stands on its own.

Why pay when there are free printables?

Free pages are easy to find. The work is finding ones that fit together, checking the level, and then getting your child to care about them. Here that’s done: three complete cases, each with linked puzzles, two levels, hints and an answer key, ready to print.

How do I get it?

A download link appears right after checkout and arrives by email. Open it on any device and print.

Are the stories scary?

No. They’re gentle, playful mysteries.

What if my child doesn’t take to it?

Then you get your money back. Email info@venalara.com within 30 days of your order with your order number and the email you used at checkout, and we’ll refund you.

Keep three ready for the next “I’m bored.”

Print the first case, hand over a pencil, and keep the other two for the days you need them.
